Vivienne Westwood

British based designer Vivienne Westwood debuted her first collection titled ‘Pirates’ in 1981. The self titled brand revolutionised the fashion industry, as Westwood’s punk and anti-establishment influence shook mainstream fashion. Westwood’s designs incorporated elements of punk, bondage and controversial graphics such as screen-printed breasts. Westwood reintroduced periodic cutting techniques used in the 17^th and 18^th century, this is evident in her signature corsets and menswear pants. Vivienne Westwood vintage garments remain popular as these rare and beautiful pieces were so revolutionary to the fashion industry and hold a great importance.
