Missoni
Missoni originated as a knitwear business in 1953, a family run establishment founded by Rosita Jelmini and Tai Missoni. The fashion house is recognised for its experimentation with knit wear, particularly its signature multi coloured zig zag motif which was created in 1962. Missoni created a new style of knitwear that felt luxurious in contrast to thick and rigged knitwear of that time. The business was struck with controversy, after presenting their sheer dresses on braless model at a runway presentation in Florence 1967. This scandal came to be an influential moment in fashion and was one of the first to present a nude look. Now, the founder’s daughter, Angela Missoni is the creative director for the brand, working to uphold the rich family legacy that is the backbone of the company. Their slinky knit wear embraces bold colours and prints that have remained classic and timeless throughout the decades. Vintage Missoni pieces such as a crochet track suit or swim suit make for the perfect vacation ensemble.
