What a crazy past year it has been for you Emily! Can you tell us about your highlights of 2021?
First off, I would say one of the main highlights would be moving my workspace out of the cramped side room at my parents house into a proper studio. Also- growing my team and hiring some contractors to help out with the production side of things.
Also, randomly waking up to an Instagram of Bella Hadid in my tankini set is definitely next on the list haha!
How would you describe your brand in 3 words?
Aquatic, femme and flirty.
You mention that your garments draw inspiration from Australia Nostalgia, what does that look / feel like/ smell like to you?
I feel like as the brand has evolved, this element is becoming less distinctive within the garments themselves but more the story they portray within a collection. Next collection I'm hoping to bring back these roots from my grad collection back in 2019 - through colour palette and new archetypes.
Your garments have already been sported on Bella Hadid, Benee and Kali Uchis to name a few.... Who would you like to see in Emily Watson next?
Off the top of my head- either Hunter Schafer, Britney or Rihanna hahah, please!
What can we hope to see from Emily Watson in 2022?
A wider range of archetypes, textiles and silhouettes.
